After my visit to Tate Modern's exhibition of Matisse Cut-outs during the summer of 2014 I discussed Matisse's life and work with Susan's Art Club. We studied reproductions and talked about his abstract shapes. The children each painted some sheets of cartidge paper in bright colours using tempera and used them to make their own collages on black or white card. The results were both orignal and vivid.
